Troubleshooting: sync, GPS, and photos

Updated August 18, 2026

This guide covers fixes for the most common sync, location, and photo issues in Inshore.

If sync seems stuck

Symptom: you made a change, but it doesn't seem to show up, or a spot or log looks out of date.

Inshore saves every change locally first, then syncs it in the background once you're online. A small spinner or warning icon near the Settings icon means a sync is pending or needs a retry, tap the warning icon to retry immediately. Either way, bring the app to the foreground or toggle airplane mode off to nudge a sync attempt.

If your location seems off

Symptom: a new spot logs in the wrong place, or your location takes a while to load.

Give Inshore a few seconds to get a GPS lock, especially right after opening the app. If location access isn't fully allowed, Inshore prompts you to enable it in Settings. If a spot still lands in the wrong place, edit its exact position from its full-screen map.

If photos won't attach or won't load

Symptom: a photo won't save to a spot, or an existing one won't open.

Photo capture needs a connection. Each spot holds up to 12 photos, so if you're at the limit, delete one first to make room. Inshore also strips location data from every photo before saving it, which can add a moment's delay on a larger photo.

Common questions

Do I need to restart the app to fix a sync issue? Usually not. Reconnecting is enough. Restarting can help if a sync attempt seems truly stuck.

Why does Inshore need location access at all? It's how Inshore places a new spot at your exact position when you log a catch.
