Marking and managing spots

Updated August 18, 2026

This guide covers creating, editing, and organizing spots, your saved fishing locations, in Inshore.

Steps

  1. Create a spot two ways. Log a catch somewhere new and Inshore creates an unnamed spot for you automatically, or long-press anywhere on the map to drop a pin and name it yourself.
  2. Add details whenever you're ready: name, structure type (like an oyster reef or grass flat), bottom type, and notes. None of this is required up front.
  3. Add photos. Save up to 12 private photos per spot. Location data is stripped from every photo before it's saved.
  4. Switch views. Toggle a spot's map thumbnail between map and satellite, and browse all your spots as a list or on the map from the Spots tab.
  5. Delete a spot you don't need anymore. Deleting a spot also removes its logs and catches, and it can't be undone, so make sure before you confirm.
Photograph the same spot at different tide levels and note what you saw. Low tide can show you the structure you're fishing blind at high tide.

Common questions

How many spots can I save? Free accounts can save up to 10 spots. Logging at spots you've already saved is always unlimited, on any plan. Pro removes the 10-spot cap. See pricing for details.

What if Inshore creates a spot in the wrong place? Edit its location from the full-screen map, or delete it and start over.

Can I rename an unnamed spot later? Yes. Open it from the Spots tab or your recent activity on Home and add a name whenever you're ready.
